Davina DVD – High Energy Five – Released 2007

In this Davina DVD, you finally get to meet Jackie & Mark at their home and see where the routines are developed and where Davina works out.  They’re really down to earth and I think that’s what helps make the workouts so enjoyable because you feel comfortable with them.

This Davina DVD is real value for money. There are 5 x 20 minute workouts to choose from.  You can mix and match and do two routines back to back or just do one if you only have 20 minutes spare.   You can select from, Aerobics, Legs, Pump, Abs and Boxing.   The pump section is really good for toning your arms and you can start off with light weights and work up to using heavier ones as you get fitter.

The music is great and the banter between Davina and Mark make this a really entertaining workout.

Davina DVD – My 3 X 30 minute Workouts – 2005

There are three routines to choose from on this Davina DVD, Pump, Cardio Box & Core Stability.  Each section is 30 minutes long, so it’s easy to fit it into your busy schedule.   Although it is one of Davina’s older DVDs it’s still worth having in your collection as it is a little different from the others.

The pump routine is pretty tough going.  Using a set of hand weights, Jackie takes you through some pretty tough moves.  It’s a combined upper and lower body workout, so there’s plenty of lunges and tricep dips, lateral raises etc.  This is probably one of my favorite routines from all the Davina DVDs.

The Core Stability section is brilliant!  It helps improve your balance and strengthen all your core muscles.  Some of the moves are quite difficult I find and although the moves are slow, they do require some practice.  You can always follow Mark, as he gives an easier option.

The Cardio Box routine is a bit of a let down unfortunately.  It doesn’t flow very well and it’s too fast to follow because of the lack of instruction in some parts.  Once you have done the routine a few times and you get to know the moves, then you can follow it a little better but somehow it just feels a little dis-jointed.  The abs section is good though and overall the DVD is worth having for just the other routines which are both excellent.

Davina DVD – Power of 3

Although this DVD was released in 2004, it’s my favorite one to do when I have a full hour spare.  It’s the only Davina DVD that allows you select warm up and then takes you through the whole 60 minute routine from start to finish without having to stop and select each section.

If you’re short on time, you can choose just one of the 3  20 minute routines.  You can select from Legs & Bums, Upper Body or Abdominals.

Jackie takes you through most of this DVD, with Mark running through the Upper Body weights section.  There are plenty of fat burning intervals and if you do the whole routine straight through, I would be very surprised if you didn’t feel it the next day.

I prefer the Upper body sections in the newer Davina DVDs because they also include squats and lunges but if you do this routine for the whole 60 mins rather than splitting it off into sections, then you get a great full body workout.

There are quite a few Fat Boy Slim tunes and loads of other really great tunes to help motivate you.
